The Self Volt™ architecture is described as an energy loop: generate, store, drive — with a control system deciding how energy moves at every moment.
This is the intended architecture. It is Concept / Under Development and has not been validated on a road-going vehicle.

The Vehicle Control Unit decides in real time which pack drives, which pack charges, and where recovered energy is routed.
Thermal management
A cross-cutting system keeps cells, motor and power electronics within safe temperature bands in all conditions.
This diagram describes the intended architecture (Concept / Under Development). Energy recovery paths and regeneration logic are the subject of active R&D and have not been validated on a vehicle.
1 · Generate
Energy can enter the vehicle from the grid (charging) and, in the Tri-Alternator concept, from onboard generation. The PMG path is the generation element under research.
2 · Store & Manage
Two battery packs — Pack A and Pack B — are managed by the BMS under VCU strategy. The packs can drive, charge or balance depending on the situation.
3 · Drive & Recover
The inverter drives the PMSM to the wheels. Regeneration and onboard generation are routed back into the packs — closing the energy loop.
